Wolves baseball upsets Indians in regional final

The Algoma Wolves registered an upset of top-seeded Mishicot on Thursday with a 2-0 win for the first regional championship in 15 years.

Carson Leist made sure the Indians couldn't do anything offensively, limiting the Indians to just two hits across seven innings while striking out seven. The Wolves meanwhile banged out seven hits and benefited from two errors, but only managed single tallies in the fourth and sixth innings.

In the fourth, Parker Lischka kicked off the inning with a triple and was later driven in on an RBI single by Charlie Prokash. With two men on in the sixth inning, Cayden Neuzil grounded a ball up the middle to drive in Prokash, who was able to advance because of an Indians error.

Both Leist brothers and Jordan Fenendael also had hits in the game.

The Wolves will travel to Gillett for Tuesday's sectional semifinal to face St. Mary Catholic. The latter nipped Kewaunee in the second round en route to their own regional championship. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. and will be carried on 104.1 WRLU.
