The Algoma Wolves could not stop a hard-hitting Random Lake Rams’ offense on Tuesday, falling 9-5 at home in a Division 4 Sectional semi-final.
The Rams exploded for five runs in the last two innings to pull away from a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning to advance in the tournament.
Macie Zimmerman went the distance for the Wolves allowing 10 hits and eight earned runs while striking out 14 batters. She went 4 for 4 at the plate with a homer and double to lead the Wolves offense. Brooke Matton, Ryley Zimmerman, Hannah Nell, and Sierra Slaby all had one hit each.
Algoma finishes the season 23-4 and champions of the Packerland Conference.
Random Lake will advance to the Sectional final with a chance to go to state when they play Coleman in Crivitz on Thursday afternoon.
