Wolves host Jets as the road to Madison begins on 104.1 WRLU

The #1 seeded Algoma Wolves (21-3) will host the #8 Roncalli Jets (3-15) in a Division 4 WIAA Softball Regional semi-final in Algoma.

Roncalli beat #9 Gibraltar/Washington Island last Thursday 11-6 in the regional quarter-final in Manitowoc.

Algoma, champions of the Packerland Conference, is coming off a big non-conference 4-2 win over Bay Port 4-2 last Thursday.  Macie Zimmerman delivered the game's big blow, registering a two-run double in the third inning to spearhead the Wolves’ offense. Zimmerman was the winning pitcher, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out seven Pirates in going the distance.

Roncalli finished 0-12 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference and looks to pull off a big upset against the Wolves who made it to the sectional finals last season in Division 4, before bowing out to Iola-Scandinavia 3-2.

The pregame will start at 4:15 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on 104.1 WRLU.  Paul Schmitt and Shelly Lau will have the call from Peterson Park in Algoma.  The game will also be streamed on NewRadioSportsNetwork.com.
