Wolves softball gets split

The Algoma Wolves' softball team was on either side of one-run decisions on Saturday, losing to Denmark 2-1 and beating Shawano 5-4.

In their loss to Denmark, Nora Krause's RBI single tied the game up in the third inning where it would stay before the Vikings took advantage of a Wolves error to drive in the winning run. In addition to Krause's single, Macie Zimmerman and Hannah Nell collected the only other hits for the Wolves. Zimmerman took the loss, going seven innings allowing four hits and two runs (1ER) while striking out three.

The Wolves were on the other side of a walk-off against Shawano when Megan Zimmer singled in the winning run. The Hawks jumped out to a 4-1 run lead before the Wolves scored the game's final four runs, including two in the sixth inning to tie the game. Seven different players had hits, but six Hawks errors allowed Krause to register the team's only two RBI.
