Wolves make quick work of Vikings in doubleheader sweep

The Algoma Wolves allowed just one hit across two games as they beat the visiting Gibraltar Vikings 12-0 and 24-0.

Game one went six innings as the Wolves put up crooked numbers in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings to put the Vikings away early. Macie Zimmerman struck out 16 of the 18 Vikings she faced in her no-hit bid. She was also 3-3 with two RBI. Nora Krause led the way offensively as she drove in four runs with two hits. One of those hits was the result of an inside-the-park homer. Anna Dalke took the loss, allowing 12 runs (8 ER) on eight hits while striking out two.

The Wolves scored 15 runs in the second inning of a three-inning, 24-0 win in game two. The game did feature Gibraltar's lone hit of the day, which was a lead-off double by Pam Prescott. Macie Zimmerman led the way with five RBI with three hits while Nora Krause drove in four runs. Ryley Zimmerman, Sierra Slaby, Hannah Nell, Jadyn Nellis, and Brooke Mattson had at least two RBI in the game. All but one player had at least one RBI, and everyone had at least one hit. Hannah Nell allowed one hit and struck out two in her three-inning win, while Emilie Glocke took the loss for the Vikings as she gave up ten runs (10 ER) on eight hits in just one inning of work.
