Wolves fall to Falcons, host quick rebound vs. Sevastopol

There will be no rest between tough games after the Algoma Wolves girls' basketball team fell to Sheboygan Falls 43-30 on  Monday night.

The Wolves were within one point at the break, but they were doomed by a 23-11 second-half run by the Falcons. Jaydn Nellis and Sierra Slaby scored 16 points combined as they knocked down four three-pointers in the first half. They were held scoreless in the second half, and five players could only muster a field goal each to lead to their demise. Outside of Nellis' 10 points and Slaby's six points, nobody else scored more than Claire Gerdmann's four points. The Falcons only needed three players to score, with Makenzie Schroeder scoring 20 points, Mollie Schliewe pouring in 15 points, and Natalie Nickolai chipping in eight points.

The Wolves will not turn their focus to Sevastopol, who are in second place with a loss to Kewaunee, their lone blemish in the Packerland Conference. The Pioneers

took their frustrations out on Sturgeon Bay in a 67-14 win last Friday night. Defensively, the Pioneers allowed just four field goals on the night, while their offense showed balance throughout the night. The Pioneers took a 43-10 lead into the break and outscored the Clippers 24-4 in the second half. Naomi Rikkola followed her 30-plus point night with 22 points, Kayla Ranly poured in 15 points, and Libby Ash scored 14 points with four three-pointers.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
