The Algoma girls' basketball team held off a stiff challenge from NEW Lutheran on Friday in a 55-51 win.

Five first-half three-pointers from the Wolves helped them secure a 29-23 advantage against the Blazers at the end of one period. Three of those made threes came from Jaydn Nellis, who would add one more in the second half to end her night with 14 points. Ryley Zimmerman led the Wolves with 16 points, while Therese Gerdmann also cracked double figures with 11 points. 

Ingrid Beaumont and Lexie Meerstein took turns pacing the Blazers on offense, with Beaumont dominating the first half and Meerstein doing the same in the second stanza. Both players finished the loss with 21 points.
