Wolves girls sink Clippers, host Raiders

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers gave them a scare, but the Algoma Wolves were able to pull away in the second half to win the game 43-30 Thursday night in girls' basketball action.

The Lady Clippers held a 19-15 advantage at halftime thanks to seven first-half points by Cady Carlson. According to Sturgeon Bay head coach Dan Tjernagel, the Wolves were able to clamp down on defense while grabbing some key rebounds to spur the comeback victory. Carlson would not score another point in the game, eventually surpassed by Dasha Yeltysheva's 16 points.

Rylee Zimmerman led the Wolves with 12 points, but the comeback was led by Brooke Mattson (8 pts) and Jaydn Nellis (11 pts), who each scored eight points in the second half.

Riding a three-game winning streak, the Wolves are back in action Friday night when they play at home against Two Rivers. The Raiders are struggling, failing to score 30 points since December 4th and 20 points in their two games this week. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
