Algoma girls welcome Southern Door Friday

The Algoma girls' basketball team looks to bounce back from a tough loss to Sevastopol earlier this week when they welcome Southern Door on Friday night.

Sevastopol held a 15-12 lead at halftime and outscored the Wolves 22-18 in the second half to win. The Pioneers used a balanced attack, with three players scoring double figures. Rylee Zimmerman led Algoma with 11 points and Jaydn Nellis with nine.

The Eagles returned from a halftime deficit to its rivals to beat Sturgeon Bay 50-42 earlier in the week. Payton Gilbertson scored 19 points, and Sophia Counard chipped in 16 points in the comeback victory. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Eagles.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
