Wolves devour Pioneers on 104.1 WRLU

The Algoma Wolves led from start to finish Thursday night defeating the Sevastopol Pioneers 54-40 at Fulwiler Fieldhouse in Packerland Conference boys basketball action.

The Wolves used a stifling defensive full-court press to force numerous turnovers early on to build a 12-0 lead and kept the Pioneers scoreless for over six minutes.

Opening a lead as big as 23 points in the first half, Algoma would go into intermission with a 23-8 lead.

The Pioneers would cut the lead to 11 points early in the second half, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way.

Parker Lischka led the way for the Wolves, scoring 24 points, while Cody Kirchman added 12 points.

Frankie De Young paced Sevastopol with 12 points as the Pioneers fought hard and outscored Algoma 32-31 in the second half.

Algoma (3-1, 5-2 overall) will now hit the road to play the Southern Door Eagles, while Sevastopol (0-3, 1-6 overall) will host the Gibraltar Vikings on Tuesday night.
