Algoma football host Suring for season finale

The Algoma football team hopes to end its season on a high note Thursday night when they welcome Suring to Perry Field.

The Wolves toppled Sevastopol last week 44-32 behind five rushing touchdowns from Grant Vandervest on top of his 216 yards rushing and 59 yards through the air. Despite playing in one fewer game than his peer due to a week one forfeit by Green Lake/Princeton, Vandervest leads the Peninsula Conference with 1180 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.

The Eagles have struggled outside of their one win against Sevastopol. Last week, they were held to under 150 total yards as they lost to Wausaukee 50-0. The Eagles do have some fight in them with two of their losses (Gibraltar, Gillett) being within a score.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
