Algoma Turns Road Trip into Victory on U-102.1

The Algoma Wolves did not let a little rain bother them Friday night as they jumped out to an early lead, and would not look back in Institute against the Sevastopol Pioneers.   The Wolves jumped out to an 8-0 lead on a Grant Vandervest 7-yard run early in the 1st quarter.  He would add a 75-yard punt return touchdown to cap off the scoring in the first, but he was far from done finding the endzone, as he would score a total of 6 times throughout the game.

Sevastopol would score first in the 2nd quarter when Logan Schuh would rush in from 8 yards out on a fourth down carry.  Grant Vandervest would then add a 33-yard rush in the 2nd, and 2a pair of rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter from 27, and 50 yards out to make the score 38-8 at the end of 3 quarters.

The 4th quarter saw Sevastopol outscore the Wolves 24-6, but the lead was too much to overcome.  Logan Schuh first ran in a score from 19 yards out for the Pioneers but would be answered by Vandervest's 5th rushing touchdown. The final two scores of the night came on a 19-yard Sladen Asher rush and a Logan Schuh to Franklin de Young to Landon Frank hook and ladder touchdown.

Algoma Improves their record to 4-2 in the conference 5-2 overall and will host Suring for their regular season finale Friday night.

Sevastopol drops to 0-6, 0-7 overall, and travels to Gibraltar Thursday night.
