Algoma, Gibraltar head to Hilbert volleyball Invitational

Algoma and Gibraltar will travel to Hilbert on Saturday for a tournament starting at 8 a.m. Central Wisconsin Christian, Manitowoc Lutheran, Roncalli, Valley Christian, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood are also scheduled to compete.

Earlier this week, a see-saw affair went in favor of the Algoma Wolves volleyball team Thursday night, beating NEW Lutheran 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12). The Wolves were strong from the service line as they registered 14 on the evening, led by Ryley Zimmerman (14 kills, 6 aces, 13 digs, 27 Receptions) and Hannah Nell (27 assists, 5 Aces, 2 Kills). MyLee Jones led the Wolves in digs (13 Kills, 2 Aces, 13 digs, 8 receptions) while Olivia Cabino had a great all-around performance (11 Digs, 1 Aces, 15 receptions) to help the team earn the Packerland Conference victory.

The Vikings were swept by Kewaunee on Thursday, their second straight Packerland Conference. Outside of a 2-0 win over Goodman/Pembine at a tournament in Crivitz, the Vikings have only won two other sets all season.
