Algoma baseball takes tournament road with Iola-Scandinavia

The Algoma baseball team will stay at home Tuesday afternoon when they welcome Iola-Scandinavia.

Carson Leist helped Algoma shut down and blowout their visitors from St. Thomas Aquinas last Thursday. Leist went all five innings in the mercy-rule-shortened contest, allowing just three hits but striking out eight.  He also went 3-3 at the plate while knocking in a run. It was part of a pair of four-run innings for the Wolves, which led to the rout. Grant Vandervest added two hits while Jordan Fenendael knocked in a pair of runs in the victory.

Iola-Scandinavia knocked off Sevastopol 12-2 in their playoff tournament opener last Thursday. The team has won three of their last four games to chase away the memories of an eight-game losing skid earlier in the season.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
