Wolves baseball bedeviled by Oconto

The Algoma Wolves simply could not score enough runs to keep pace with the Oconto Blue Devils on Saturday, losing both ends of their doubleheader by the scores of 5-2 and 14-2.

In game one, the Wolves found themselves down 4-0 before Braden Leist singled home one run and doubled their total with a bases-loaded walk drawn by Aiden Jorns. Javen Charles took the loss for the Wolves on the mound, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits across five innings while striking out seven. Cooper Campsure and Kyle Bowman were thorns in Charles' side with each registering three hits.

In game two, the Blue Devils scored four runs in the second and fourth innings and three runs in the sixth and seventh to run past the Wolves 14-2. The Wolves were outhit 12-5 and added salt to their wounds with six errors in the contest. The bright spot came in the third inning when the Wolves rallied to score two runs on an RBI single by Parker Lischka and an RBI double by Carson Leist. It was Leist that took the bulk of the beating from the Blue Devils on the mound, giving up eight runs (four earned) on five hits across four innings.
