Algoma baseball greets NEW Lutheran in Perry Park

Algoma and NEW Lutheran's baseball teams were so anxious to play, they moved their doubleheader up a day to Monday afternoon at Perry Park beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Wolves were one of the few teams that got to play on Tuesday, losing both ends of a doubleheader to Kewaunee 14-0 and 13-3. In game one, Kaden Vardon and Braeden Leist were the only ones to get on base via a hit against Storm pitchers, two of which only came after Cal Ihenfeldt ended his day an inning short in the five-inning game but exited with six strikeouts. The Wolves were able to score in the second game, opening the contest with an RBI groundout. After giving up eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Wolves were able to delay the inevitable five-inning loss thanks to a run scored on a wild pitch and another on an RBI single by Carson Leist. The Storm ended the contest with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jack Cole posted two hits in the loss.

The Blazers saw their losing streak stretch to six on Saturday with a pair of losses to Oconto by scores of 11-1 and 6-4. Their lone win in Packerland play came in early April in the second game of a doubleheader against Peshtigo.
