Algoma softball sees soaring Eagles come to town

The Algoma Wolves and Southern Door Eagles have both started their seasons strong on the softball diamond. The two teams will face off for a conference doubleheader Saturday morning.

The Wolves of Algoma have begun their season 2-0 after two completely different kinds of wins. With a 1-0 win with 2 hits and a 14-0 win with 18 hits on their record, this Algoma team is capable of winning in many different ways. The Wolves have still not given up a run, and that credit has been given to Hannah Nell as she threw a complete game shutout while only allowing 2 hits. In the matchup between these two teams last season, the Eagles of Southern Door won in a 7-6 nailbiter.

For the Eagles, they are coming off a thumping win over Wrightstown It was one big inning for Southern Door in the win over the Tigers of Wrightstown, scoring 12 runs in the second inning and going through their entire batting order one and a half times in the inning. Southern Door had 18 total hits, led by Callie Miller with 3 hits, Lustilla also with 3 hits, Sophia Counard 2 hits, Ashlyn Delfossse 2 hits, and Gilbertson 2 hits.

Game One of the Doubleheader is slated for 10:00 a.m.
