Wolves baseball hosts Eagles for Doubleheader

Two high powered offenses will clash at Algoma on Saturday morning as the Wolves take on the reigning back to back Packerland champion Southern Door.

Algoma has had one game so far this season, a 13-6 rout of Kohler/Christian. The Wolves set up much of their scoring on the basepaths, stealing 17 bases including six by Grant Vandervest. It was Vandervest that scored the season's first run when Carson Leist singled him after he stole third base. Chase Romdenne stole home for the inning's second run before Carson Lischka singled home Leist. Kaden Vardon kept the run parade going with an RBI single before Lischka took advantage of an error to score the inning's fifth run.

Southern Door has gotten out to a 3-0 record so far this season and has yet to play a full seven inning game. The scores in the three games for the Eagles have been 10-0, 9-0, and most recently against Reedsville 21-7. In the game against Reedsville, the roof fell in on the Panthers when Southern Door unloaded 11 runs on 7 hits in the top of the 5th inning, highlighted by home runs from Derek Schinktgen and Tyler Neinas, and a bases-clearing double by Alec Guilette.

Game One of the Doubleheader is set for 10:00 a.m.
