Algoma High School

Wolves and Wolverine Softball tangle in season opener

Only having one scheduled game postponed, Algoma’s softball team will enjoy the warm weather with a non-conference game against Crivitz on Tuesday afternoon.

The Wolves’ season was all over the map last year, losing to 8-9 Kewaunee and then beating 14-4 Oconto. Algoma will look to ride those highs into this season after making it to the second round of the postseason last year, losing to Iola-Scandinavia 5-3. The Wolves are a relatively veteran lead team with five seniors on the roster.

The Wolverines of Crivitz have already had their first game of the season, losing 11-8 to Amherst on Saturday. The team was 9-14 overall last year, and went 5-5 in the M&O Conference. After beating Gibraltar/Washington Island in the opening round last year 21-0, the Wolverines were defeated by Bonduel 3-0 to end their season.

First pitch from Algoma is set for 4:30 p.m.
