Algoma girls trek to Crandon for WIAA Regional Semifinal

The Algoma girls' basketball team will look to secure a second-straight upset on the road when they travel to Crandon Friday night.

Tied at 18 at the break, Algoma would come out firing on all cylinders in the second half, as Ryley Zimmerman and Emily Kirchman would combine for a 12-0 Algoma run, as the Eagles were held scoreless for the first six minutes of the second half. The Wolves forced some costly turnovers down the stretch leading to the 48-34 win over their Packerland rivals as Zimmerman led the way with 13 points and Kirchman and Brooke Mattson added 10 points each.

The Cardinals' lone loss on the season against Division 5 #1 Seed Wabeno-Laona on January 20th, winning nine games since. They have not allowed more than 40 points since the beginning of February, including a 50-27 win over Florence last Friday when Holly Palubicki scored 16 points. Mara Stamper leads the Cardinals with 14.7 points per game.

Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
