Wolves girls silence Vikings

The Algoma girls basketball team ended their regular season on a positive note, topping the Gibraltar Vikings 55-17 Thursday night.

The Wolves kept the Vikings to single digits in the opening period, taking a 17-7 advantage into halftime. While the defense shined in the first half, the offense took center stage in the second half. Ryley Zimmerman scored 19 of her game-high 21 points after the break, while Halle Panger and Tru Sullivan each added six points in the victory.

Playing without Andie Schar and Colleen Carlisle, the Vikings made only six shots from the field. Krista Church made two of those shots from behind the arc, and led all Vikings players with six points. Mikala Gorham scored five points in the loss.
