Algoma girls set for matchup versus Vikings

The Algoma Wolves will play host to the streaking Gibraltar Vikings on Thursday night ahead of the WIAA playoffs beginning next week.

Algoma is coming off of a 10 point loss last Saturday to the Kewaunee Storm 62-52. The Wolves were not able to shut down Jadelynn Kroll in the matchup, as she exploded for 31 points, including 5 made threes throughout the game. Ryley Zimmerman has been doing it all for the Wolves, as her and Emily Kirchman led the way for scoring with 17 and 10 respectively. The Wolves received the #9 seed in the WIAA playoffs and will face off against the eighth seeded Southern Door Eagles in the opening round.

Gibraltar took care of business their last time on the court, defeating the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 61-35. A big three on the Vikings has begun to take form as Colleen Carlisle, Andi Schar and Mikala Gorham all scored in double digits in the win. The defensive effort of the Vikings has shown this season, and led them to their late season surge. Gibraltar received a 13 seed and will travel north to Niagara in the opening round.

Tipoff from Algoma is set for 7:30 P.M.
