Wolves girls sink Clippers, battle Storm Saturday

The Algoma Wolves girls' basketball team continued their strong finish to the regular season on Friday night with a 67-32.

Fast starts were the key to starting each half for the Wolves, which scored the first nine points in the first half and the opening 11 points in the second half. Emily Kirchman dominated the Clippers, posting a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds in the contest. She scored 16 points in the game's opening frame to help the Wolves hold a 32-14 lead at the break. Ryley Zimmerman and Teagen Luedtke each added 11 points in the win for the Wolves. The Clippers received 10 points from Autumn Rass to lead the way in the loss that dropped them to 2-19 on the year and winless in the Packerland. Regan Kasten scored eight points while two others scored at least four points.

The Wolves will travel to Kewaunee for a Saturday night matchup at 7:30 p.m. The Storm had nine different players scored but none more than seven in a 56-32 loss to Sevastopol Friday night. Jade Kroll managed seven points and Lexi Hanrahan added five points in the loss against the conference leaders.
