Wolves girls demolish Red Devils

The Algoma girls basketball team jumped out to a 40-10 halftime lead and never looked back in its 61-20 win over Green Bay East on Monday night.

The Wolves got out to that fast start thanks to Ryley Zimmerman, who scored 15 of his team-high 21 points in the opening frame. Emily Kirchman also had a strong start as the team's second-leading scorer, adding eight of her 13 points in the first half. Halle Panger was right behind her with nine points in the game.

The real story could be the Wolves' defense, which held Jamaya Mariner to just 10 points after she scored over 20 points against Sturgeon Bay. No other Red Devils player scored more than three points as they made only seven shots from the field in 36 minutes of action.
