Wolves girls fight for first against Oconto

Algoma’s girls basketball team has been impressive thus far this season, and they will look to continue that good start against the Blue Devils of Oconto.

A spread of balanced scoring for the Wolves has been the story of the season, led statistically by Junior Ryley Zimmerman. Not only has it been Zimmerman however, as Ella Madden, Halle Panger, and Sierra Slaby have all done their fair share of scoring. Algoma sits at 2-0 in Packerland play, and in a tie for first place with their opponent Oconto.

The Blue Devils have not skipped a beat from last season, even with losing unanimous Packerland conference Player of the Year Lianna Baxter. With wins over Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door, Oconto can move into a clear lead for first place with a win over Algoma, but it could also be vice versa. The Blue Devils can thank their underclassmen for their success so far, as Addisyn Viestenz and Madilyn Thomson are averaging over 15 points per game.

Tip is scheduled for 7:30 in Algoma.
