Algoma hosts Spartans for early season test

Algoma was not able to take down Ashwaubenon on the Girls Basketball circuit Tuesday night, as they fell 40-30. The Wolves will have to shake that loss off as they get ready for a local non-conference opponent, as they welcome in the Spartans of Luxemburg-Casco.

The Wolves got a strong output from their projected top scorer Ryley Zimmerman as she scored 10 of those 30 points. Algoma trailed by four going into the break, but were not able to turn the tides in their favor, as they were outscored 22-16 in the second half. Ella Madden was the next highest scorer, as she chipped in five of her own. The Wolves had all seven of their players in their box score score, but none of them more than Madden’s five. Algoma took a loss to the Spartans in last year's matchup by a score of 46-38.

Luxemburg Casco will be opening up their season with the Wolves, coming off of a 12-14 record last season. The Spartans will have their first game without their two 1,000 point scorers Lauren Adams and Taylor Thiry. The Spartans season ended in the second round of the WIAA playoffs as they were defeated by the Notre Dame Academy Tritons 73-17.

Tip is set for 7:30 P.M. in Algoma.
