Wolves begin fall sports seasons

Algoma High School has officially seen all of their sports get underway with their practices. Algoma fall sports has a mixture of everything from 8-Man Football to Girls Volleyball.

The Cross Country team began getting underway with a full practice schedule monday, with their first meet being the Chief K Invitational hosted by Gibraltar on the 25th. The team is looking to improve off of last season's times, and hoping to make postseason success.

The football team will be playing 8-Player football once again this season. The Wolves will still be ineligible to play in the postseason due to a three year enrollment average being above the number to be eligible. The team is hoping to continue the success they had last season though, as they finished at 6-2 and second in the Peninsula Conference.

Opening up the season at Gibraltar/Sevastopol will be a test for the Wolves Boys Soccer team on the 25th of August. After a difficult 3-12 season last year, Algoma will hope to turn it around and make it a successful 2022 season.

After upsetting Southern Door and ending their season in the playoffs last year, Algoma’s girls volleyball team hopes to ride that momentum into this next season. There is not much turnover from last season, and the Wolves could be poised for an unexpected season to many. Their first chance to compete will be at a Scrimmage on August 20th at Shawano.
