Algoma girls open playoffs at Manawa Wednesday

The Algoma girls' basketball team will open their road to the Resch one day later than scheduled when it plays at Manawa on Wednesday.

Manawa moved the opening game of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs to Wednesday after the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning from Monday evening to Tuesday evening.

The Wolves concluded their regular season with a 41-36 win over Gibraltar. Ryley Zimmerman led the game with 16 points and Emily Kirchman added 12 points. The pair were the leading scorers for the Wolves this season. The Wolves enter the Wednesday night contest winners of their last four games.

Manawa went 3-9 during the non-conference slate but 11-1 in conference action to take a share of the Central Wisconsin-North crown with Gresham. Mikenna Wegener (8.8 ppg) and Marilyn Klatt (8.0ppg) lead the team in scoring. Manawa is 6-4 in their last 10 games including a 62-31 win last Thursday against Northland Lutheran.

The game will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
