Second half dooms Wolves boys against Eagles on 104.1 WRLU

The Southern Door Eagles boys' basketball team quickly turned a seven-point lead at halftime to a 15 point advantage before settling on a 63-51 victory over Algoma Tuesday night.

Both teams were slow out of the gate at first before the Eagles' offense finally caught steam. They were able to build a double-digit lead before the Wolves' Carter Zimmerman and Owen Robertson helped keep the game to within seven at the break. Jared Hawkey was able to get to the line with ease in the first half while scoring eight points along the way. A lower leg injury would keep him out the entire second half.

Both offenses fell into a groove early in the second half, but it was Nic Pierre's two three-pointers that put the distance between the two teams that would stay put for good. Drew Daoust scored 15 of his game-high 21 points for the Eagles in the second half while Carter Zimmerman did virtually the same, scoring 13 of his game-high 21 points for the Wolves after the break. Owen Robertson scored 13 points and Kaden Vardon added 12 in a supporting role for Zimmerman.
