Algoma looks to stay in 8-man football hunt against Sevastopol

The Algoma football controls its own destiny when it comes to qualifying for the eight-man football playoffs starting Friday night when it hosts Sevastopol.

 

Their conference title hopes took a hit last Thursday when it lost to Lena/STAA on the road 36-14. Carter Zimmermann was largely kept in check despite scoring two touchdowns, gaining a season low 86 yards on the ground and only 79 yards through the air.

 

The Pioneers picked up their second conference win of the season with a 54-14 win over Gillett. Jack de Young scored five total touchdowns while gaining over 200 yards of total offense on the night.

 

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
