The Algoma Wolves girls’ basketball team took a harsh conference loss to the Oconto Blue Devils on Tuesday evening, 54-43. The Wolves came into the matchup with limited game time experience under their belt. Both squads entered the matchup with zero wins but that changed for Oconto who prevailed for a win even though Algoma showed promising play. The Wolves started the night off ahead 3-0 which did not hold for long due to an 11 point scoring run by Oconto. The Wolves found themselves down at halftime 29-16. Oconto did start the second half well until Algoma strained some buckets together to bring the game within two possessions, 40-36. After the Wolves narrowed the lead, the Blue Devils pulled away for an 11 point victory. Algoma will visit Peshtigo on Friday night for a 7pm conference match.
