The Algoma girl's basketball team struck gold again in 1986, capturing the school's second state title in five years.
Playing Division C at the time, the Wolves beat Prentice 67-56 in the semifinal before escaping Madison with the gold ball in hand after narrowly defeating defending state champion Fall Creek 49-48. That happened during a time period when Fall Creek won four state titles in six years. It also came a year after Algoma came up just short in the state title game.
