Algoma High School

Algoma girls spring upset

The Algoma High School girls' basketball team shocked Peshtigo on the road Saturday afternoon, winning 35-31 in overtime. Algoma improves to 8-10 overall and is stealthily climbing the Packerland Conference standings. Peshtigo came into the game 9-2 in league play, good for second place, so this was a surprise.

As you can imagine in a game where the score was 28 apiece at the end of regulation, individual stat lines weren't the prettiest. Algoma had one scorer in double figures. Senior guard Emersyn Wallace netted 13 points off of free throws and four buckets.

Algoma's next game is a non-conference road matchup against Bonduel (16-3 overall). The Bears had a 13-game winning streak snapped Saturday by Crivitz so they may be ornery.
