At halftime on Friday night, the Algoma High School girls basketball team led by 10 but NEW Lutheran flipped the script in the second stanza to pull out a close game, 42-39. Algoma has lost three in a row and Friday’s defeat was almost solely due to the performance of Blazer role player Josie Nelson. She had a game-high 19 points for NEW Lutheran. Chloe Spitzer led Algoma with 14.

Algoma hosts Oconto on Tuesday night. Both teams are in the bottom half of the conference standings.
