Then Algoma went to work. Jordan Deringer punched it in on the ground from 2 yards out and Brett Benesh had two scores to make it 18-6 at the end of the first quarter. Benesh caught a 38-yard TD from quarterback Carter Zimmerman and broke a 57-yard run.
Algoma added three more touchdowns in the second quarter. Deringer ran in two with Zimmerman connecting with Benesh through the air for a second time. At half, it was 42-6. The Wolves pushed across a couple more scores to widen the lead to 54-6 before Saint Mary Catholic collected two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter with the game out of hand.
