After a 1-3 showing at the Oconto Invitational to start the year, Algoma’s early-season struggles continued Thursday against West De Pere. The Wolves dropped the match three sets to one; 16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25. It was a hard-fought contest. In Oconto, Algoma had trouble returning serves at times but those woes did not crop up again in this match. Jacklyn Dean, Hanna Weise, and Sydney Zimmerman led the way with 10 kills for Algoma. Head coach Eric Dean noted last week that the team lacks size. Algoma had only four total blocks in the game. Algoma wrapped up the week with another tournament in Reedsville on Friday.
