Algoma softball wins War on the Shore in dramatic fashion

Algoma took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Kewaunee.  The game was tied at one with Algoma Wolves Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Maddie Prokash singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

 

The pitching was strong on both sides. Prokash struck out 11, while Hailey Gaedtke sat down three.

 

Algoma got things moving in the first inning, when Hanna Wiese hit a solo homer

 

Kewaunee evened things up at one in the top of the fifth inning when Mykenzi Uhlers hit a solo homer.

 

Prokash was the winning pitcher for the Wolves. She surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

 

Gaedtke was on the rubber for Kewaunee. She allowed six hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.

 

Algoma smacked one home run on the day. Wiese went for the long ball in the first inning.

 

Missy Srnka went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Wolves in hits.
