Algoma picks up home conference win

Five runs batted in from Missy Srnka helped lead Algoma past Sturgeon Bay 16-4 on Saturday.  Srnka drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the second, a walk in the third, and a single in the fourth.

 

Algoma earned the victory despite allowing Sturgeon Bay to score four runs in the fourth inning.  Sturgeon Bay scored its runs on a grand slam by Katie Frank.

 

The Wolves got things moving in the first inning, when Srnka singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

 

Algoma put up seven runs in the third inning.  The Wolves offense in the inning was led by Hanna Wiese, Srnka, Chloie Spitzer, Emersyn Wallace, and Makayla Guillette, all knocking in runs in the inning.

 

Maddie Prokash was credited with the victory for Algoma. She went five innings, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking one.

 

Algoma tallied 13 hits in the game.  Srnka, Guillette, Wallace, and Wiese each collected multiple hits for Algoma Wolves Varsity.  Guillette and Srnka each collected three hits to lead the Wolves.  Algoma stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Lindsey Jennerjohn led the way with two.
