Algoma baseball loses lead early In defeat

The Algoma Wolves watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 15-2 loss to Southern Door on Tuesday. Southern Door scored on a double by Devin Schinkgton in the first inning, a double by Logan Jeanquart in the second inning, a single by Tyler Kroll in the second inning, and a error in the second inning.

 

Algoma struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Southern Door, giving up 15 runs.


Southern Door opened up scoring in the first inning. Schinkgton drove in two when he doubled.
Southern Door scored five runs in the seventh inning. Alex Daoust, Kroll, #10, and Schinkgton each had RBIs in the frame.


Derik LeCaptain led things off on the pitcher's mound for Southern Door. He surrendered two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out eight.


Zach Schmidt was on the pitcher's mound for Algoma Wolves  He allowed six hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two. Mitchell Zimmer threw three innings in relief.
Bryce Duerst, Max Panger, Schmidt, and Trevor Nell each managed one hit to lead Algoma.


Southern Door collected 12 hits on the day. Kroll, Schinkgton, Brodie Overbeck, and Jeanquartall had multiple hits for Southern Door. Kroll led Southern Door with three hits in four at bats.
