Algoma softball's offense booms against Oconto

The Algoma Wolves' softball team put up double digit run totals in both ends of their doubleheader sweep of Oconto on Tuesday, beating them 10-3 and 19-6.

 

In game one, the Wolves had a 3-2 lead when Algoma posted five runs in the fourth inning to put the game on ice. Nora Krause dealt the game's biggest blow with a home run, one of her two hits on a four-RBI day. Hannah Nell and Brooke Mattson also posted two hits and drove in a run. Macie Zimmerman went the distance for the Wolves, striking out 12 batters across seven innings while allowing three runs (2 ER) on four hits.

 

In game two, it was a seesaw battle until the end when the Wolves posted 12 runs in the seventh inning. All nine batters registered at least one hit and eight of the nine collected at least one RBI. Nora Krause had the biggest hit of them all with a home run en route to a 3-6, three RBI game. Natalie Ray went 2-4 with four RBI, while Megan Zimmer and Brooke Mattson had three RBI games. Nell took the win as she struck out 13 across seven innings, giving up six runs on 12 hits.
