Wolves baseball splits with Blue Devils

The Algoma Wolves played the Oconto Blue Devils to a split on Tuesday in baseball action, losing game one 9-4 before winning game two 8-5.

 

In game one, the Blue Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Wolves scratched across a run in the second inning on a Parker Lischka single. The Blue Devils would add two more runs in the fourth inning before the two teams traded runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Jack Cole drove in two runs and Charlie Prokash brought home the other run. Carson Leist took the loss, allowing six runs (6 ER) on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.

 

In game two, the Wolves put up five runs in the third inning to put themselves in the driver's seat the rest of the game. The Blue Devils made a charge in the seventh inning with two runs, but the Wolves held off their rally to secure the split. Lischka, Cole, and Jordan Fenendael combined seven hits with Fenendael doing the heaviest lifting as he went 3-4 and an RBI thanks to a double. Grant Vandervest, Chase Romdenne, and Prokash also tallied RBI in the win. Lischka earned the win, going five innings as he allowed three runs (2 ER) on one hit while striking out six.

 

The Wolves play two against NEW Lutheran on Friday.
